Hi everyone -

Over the holidays, I thought that I'd try to restore a couple of SX-70s. I had recently aquired both an original SX-70 and a Sonar OneStep SE. They were both in good working order, but they looked awful, so I bought some new leather skins and restored them. The results were worth the effort!

I'm sharing this because almost anyone can re-condition an SX-70 or one of its variants. I know that the Impossible space in NYC sells replacement skins, and they even offer a tutorial how to replace skins on the folding SLR models. You can also find other sources for replacement skins online.

So if you have a working SX-70 folding SLR model, but its covering is in bad shape, take heart. You can easily replace the skin. Better still, you can get new unique skins that were never available during the cameras' production runs!
